Living in Canada we can get some pretty cold winters. I know the stereotype is that everyone above the border needs a dogsled to get around and lives in an igloo, but that just isn't the case. Growing up, I remember we used to get up to a couple feet of snow every winter, and we lived only 30 minutes from the Canada/US border on the West Coast. Nowadays, you gotta go at least 3-4 hours north of the border to get any significant snowfall (think Whistler or further North) what with this crazy global warming shtuff. But I've heard stories about people living up north that have to tie a rope from the handrail on their porch out to the barn just so they can find make sure they make it back to the house alive without becoming a human popsicle.
